Indian Vintage Fashion
Stumbled across these amazing vintage pictures of Indian women from 1880s-1910s here. The website, called Old Indian Photos, is full of images of ....surprise surprise...snake charmers, beggars, hungry children, women worshiping cows. Basically, the endlessly repeated, stereotypical image of Indians by Western Photographers. I did however, find some really lovely pictures of what women wore- elegant saris gracefully draped in a variety of styles.
c 1888, Bombay Presidency- Love the narrow trousers and draped sari look
Hand coloured postcard c 1910
c 1870s
Date unknown- beautiful checks and stripes
Date unknown - another hand colourerd postcard.

GoodReads
Just finished reading these charming books about Mma Precious Ramotswe and her detective agency in Botswana. Perfect stress busters! Looking forward to the next in the series.
PS...I found myself dreaming of taking a holiday in Botswana. Especially after I saw Vogue's little feature on Eagle Island Camp on Xaxaba Island. Sigh..

Berlin
AK and I spent a lovely weekend at Berlin in the summer, just walking, discovering hidden streets, small boutiues, museums and flohmarkets. I stumbled upon this lovely blog as I searched for design shops in Berlin -PRÊT À VOYAGER .Thanks so much for the fantastic tips! My favourite was the Lomography store. And of course R.S.V.P the cute stationery store.

Yohji Yamamoto at the V&A
I went to the V&A late on Friday night a couple of weeks ago to see the recently concluded Yohji Yamamoto show. It was brilliant! Shame they didnt allow any pictures of the exhibition to be taken. You can read more about the exhibition and see images here.
The amazing glass sculpture at the V&A atrium.
Clearly, friday nights at the V&A are fun.
The newly refurbished Medieval & Renaissance Galleries- I admired the view while waiting to buy tickets to the show.
The V&A shop window, dressed in Yamamoto
Yamamoto garments were installed at various points in the museum
I enjoyed the contrast -historical and contemporary
