Yohji Yamamoto at the V&A

I went to the V&A late on Friday night a couple of weeks ago to see the recently concluded Yohji Yamamoto show. It was brilliant! Shame they didnt allow any pictures of the exhibition to be taken. You can read more about the exhibition and see images here

The amazing glass sculpture at the V&A atrium.

Clearly, friday nights at the V&A are fun.

The newly refurbished  Medieval & Renaissance Galleries- I admired the view while waiting to buy tickets to the show.
The V&A shop window, dressed in Yamamoto

Yamamoto garments were installed at various points in the museum

I enjoyed the contrast -historical and contemporary

Not All Indians are Polite and Vegetarian-Incredible India

Loving the Incredible India campaign! It's all over the London Underground these days.

The Bengal tiger one is probably my favourite. This one made me chuckle! I couldn't get a decent shot on my phone, too many people standing in front of it. But I found a good one of the gorgeous Tiger at EyalNow's flickr photostream. Thanks EyalNow.

No, that's not someone jumping in front of the train. That's yoga in the mountains amidst clouds (how exotic..;D ....though now it looks a bit dodgy. :p ) I managed to take the picture just in time before the tube obliterated my view of swirling clouds and hills.

Will post more as I discover them around the city. Do point me to the ones you all have seen around.

Sam Pickard

Sam's Moth Print

My friend, Sam Pickard, designs stunning botanical printed textiles, wall coverings and bespoke interior products. I first came across her work in 2007 when I was at Bath Spa University as the designer-in-residence (The residency was part of Crafts Council's Next Move award). I was blown away by her distinctive drawing style and attention to detail. Sam continues to show her work at 100% Design every year. Look out for her if you are visiting. Sam just won the Devon Guild's Summer Exhibition President Award. The insect prints have a personal resonance with me because both my parents are Entomologists. Congratulations Sam!!! Well deserved!

Embroidery Workshop

My lavender bags made of bright silks and lavender grown in Provence, France

Come join me for making embroidered lavender bags at The Oak Studio in Hampstead on 16 July, 2011 from 2 - 4 pm. I will show a variety of techniques you can use to decorate textiles with embroidery using your sewing machine. This is great way to gain or improve machine-sewing and embroidering skills. You will take a finished lavender bag home at the end of the class. The cost is £38 which includes materials. Click here to find out how to book. Oak studio is just a couple of minutes walk from Hampstead underground station.

Hope to see you there!
