Pulse 2011

Showing at Pulse was fun, exhausting yet exciting. For those who dont know the show, it is a trade- show for gifts and accessories at Earls Court, London. I exhibited within the Launchpad area, which features upcoming designer-makers.

I launched a new collection of scarves inspired by text and interior accessories inspired by London maps. Thank you all who came. It was amazing to meet you all. Here are some images of my stand for those who couldn't make it. My next outing will now be at Origin- the uber cool contemporary craft show which is part of the London Design Festival.

My Solo Exhibition-StoryLines

Through this body of work I wanted to explore my relationship with Delhi and London, but both which I call home. I wanted to talk about my heritage, of travel, of missing home and finding a home away from home, through this work. So working with maps and saris seemed a natural choice. Drawing and embroidering the maps of these two cities felt cathartic; an act of recalling, recording and celebrating.

Thank you Devon Guild for having the exhibition and working so hard to make it look amazing. Thank you Clare and Graham at The Stables, the lovely B&B we stayed at, for making our stay so comfortable. Thank you everyone who came to the PV. Here are images from the private view of StoryLines.

Neck & Neck by Emma Jeffs

The brilliant surface designer Emma Jeffs is showing her beautiful scarves at The Corner Shop, 21 Clerkenwell Green, London EC1R 0DX. The exhibition is open till Saturday 5 March, 2011. Read more about the exhibition here .

Emma mentored me when I was on the Craft Council's Next Move award and spent many an afternoon advising, tutoring and encouraging me. For all those afternoons I'm eternally grateful.

Neck and Neck showcases Emma's new limited edition neck pieces for men and women. The work and the display speaks eloquently of her eye for detail. (Don't miss the subtle detailing on the display tables - Emma's wrapped the tables' legs in a medley of colourful yarns!) The scarves themselves are a delight- bold and playful.

So please go treat yourself to a feast of colours!

Sophie Zajicek's beautiful work

The lovely Sophie Zajicek is interning with us currently at the studio. An accomplished weaver with an exceptional eye for detail, Sophie is a joy to have with us. See her work here.

Soon she would be off to Peru to learn back-strap weaving and hopefully to the RCA for an MA in Woven Textiles in the fall. I wish her all the very best for the future.

'Scribble' Quilt

Hello everyone! I'm showing my work a group show titled 'New Territories' at the Devon Guild, Bovey Tracey. Other artists include Gail Trezise (ceramics), Hans Borgonjon (ceramics), Helen Snell (paper), Isla Chaney (ceramics), Linda Gates (ceramics), Lynn Stevens (ceramics) and Rosanna Martin (ceramics). I am showing my scribble quilt (grey and ochre) and some lovely wool scarves. Do go and take a look if you are in the area. The show is on till 20th Feb 2011.
